Thanks to the Internet, there's not much that I can't do from my home office. Of course, there are always exceptions. If you're within reasonable range of Chicago, my preferences depend on the project's needs.
Some of the exceptions are obvious. For instance, I work on a PC at home. If your work needs to be done on a Mac that your company owns, I'll need to work on-site. If you have preferred software for use on your creative projects that I don't own (see below), I will come to you.
Of course, if you're not near Chicago, I'd rather work from here, thank you very much. ;-)
What types of payment do you accept?
My preferred method of payment is by Paypal, a free electronic funds transfer
program online. Through their service, you can also pay me with a credit card attached to your Paypal account. I also accept personal checks, money orders, and cash.
When do you prefer to be paid?
Depends. Like everything else in life, this is negotiable. I understand that for projects that will take more than a day to
complete, full up-front payment may be difficult for some clients. For these
projects, I would like 50% of the estimated project cost before the
work begins, with the rest payable up to fifteen business days after full
completion.
For ongoing projects, monthly payments will be just fine.
